HOW WE GROW
ORCHARD DIRECT’s Orchard Partnership Model

At ORCHARD DIRECT, we believe high-quality fruit starts at the source. That’s why we’ve built a diverse and integrated operational network, with orchards at its core. Our success relies not only on cold chain logistics, warehousing, and distribution, but also on controlling the beginning of the supply chain—where and how fruit is grown.

We’ve adopted a dual model to build a stable and efficient production system.

The first approach is direct orchard ownership. In mature growing regions with experienced teams, ORCHARD DIRECT acquires and operates orchards directly. This allows us to manage daily farming activities, implement advanced agricultural practices, maintain strict quality standards, and adjust strategies based on market needs. Ownership enables full control “from soil to shelf,” reducing risk and ensuring consistency.
The second model is contract farming, where we partner with local growers or agricultural firms. Through pre-season agreements, we define varieties, quantities, quality specifications, and pricing. This provides farmers with market security and gives us reliable, planned supply. Throughout the season, we support our partners with technical guidance—from fertilization to pest control and post-harvest handling—to make sure the fruit meets our promise of being “direct, delicious, and delightful.”

By combining ownership and contract partnerships, ORCHARD DIRECT ensures flexibility, quality control, and responsiveness. This approach allows us to adapt to market changes, control costs, and drive innovation—while building long-term, trusted relationships with growers around the world.

With this “How to Grow” strategy, we strengthen our competitiveness and create lasting value for our partners. Looking ahead, we’ll continue to expand our growing network and promote sustainable practices to deliver premium, fresh fruit—straight from the source to our customers.

Food safety is and will always be our top priority
Our contracted orchards excel in food safety, ensuring compliance with U.S. export standards and implementing key practices:

Investment in Quality Inputs:

Each spring, we allocate special funds to purchase authentic fertilizers and pesticides through official channels, ensuring they meet U.S. standards.

Refined Cultivation Practices:

We refine Global G.A.P. guidelines to suit the growth characteristics of Asian pears, ensuring safe and healthy fruit.

Advanced Pest Management:

Experts from the Shandong Institute of Pomology offer advanced pest control techniques, emphasizing biological and physical methods, along with comprehensive staff training in safety protocols.

Pesticide Residue Monitoring:

We conduct three rounds of pesticide residue testing: before bagging in early June, during peak fruiting in early August, and before harvest in early September.

Our own or partnered packaging facilities for exporting to the United States excel in food safety due to the following factors:

Certifications:

Our packaging facilities are certified by HACCP and BRC, ensuring compliance with high food safety standards.

Trademark Use:

Only products from our own orchard use the registered trademark AUTUMN MOON®, ensuring brand authenticity and quality.

"Orchard Direct" labeled paper bags greatly enhance food safety oversight.
Orchard Direct has established a comprehensive product traceability system, making it the only company in China that monitors food safety throughout the entire process, from orchard to consumer.

Bagging Asian pears with "ORCHARD DIRECT" labels and storing them separately post-harvest ensures traceability and prevents cross-contamination with other orchard fruits.

Each supermarket product is labeled with the orchard number, packaging date, and packing facility details.

Containers and pallets are uniquely numbered for efficient logistics and storage tracking.

Orchard Direct has set up a full cold chain monitoring system from farm to supermarket storage. We work with top shipping companies, truckers, and distribution centers to continuously monitor the temperature, humidity, and hygiene of fresh Asian pears before they reach the customer's warehouse.

Orchard Direct conducts third-party audits for regular product inspections. Identified food safety issues prompt us to initiate our recall procedures, involving sealing, rectifying, or returning affected goods. We investigate the cause to prevent future occurrences.
