Pop® Chestnut
Appearance
POP Chestnuts® have a cultivation history of over 2,000 years in China, primarily grown in the Yanshan Mountains region. Recognized as a protected geographical indication product, POP Chestnuts® are known for their delicate appearance, with fruits typically oval or round in shape and a small hilum. The average single nut weight is 8.02 grams. The outer shell is mostly chestnut brown, reddish-brown, or purplish-brown, with a glossy surface and minimal fuzz. The shell is thin, and the inner skin peels off easily.
Flavor/Texture
The fresh nutmeat is pale yellow, while after roasting, the outer shell becomes glossy, and the flesh turns a rich golden yellow. POP Chestnuts® contain approximately 16% sugar, about 55% starch, and around 5% protein, making it highly nutritious with an excellent taste. The texture is fine and smooth, offering a strong glutinous quality and a rich, aromatic flavor.
